Day 2: Cape Town – Table Mountain & city exploration

You guide will collect you early so you can beat the queues, and you will travel up the world-known Table Mountain via cable car. Explore at your own pace, enjoy a coffee in the mountain-top restaurant, and if you’re feeling brave try some abseiling (abseiling needs to be prebooked).

Descend the mountain and enjoy a tour exploring the highlights of the city with lunch along the way, perhaps in a vibrant cafe, or a seaside restaurant.

Head back to the hotel for the rest of the afternoon.

Overnight in Cape Town.

Day 3: Cape Town – a day around the Cape Peninsula

This morning after breakfast, your guide will collect you and you’ll depart the city along the Atlantic Seaboard, driving through Camps Bay and Clifton and along the very scenic Chapman’s Peak.

Enter Cape Point Nature Reserve and hop on the funicular to the old lighthouse, where you’ll be rewarded with sweeping ocean views and the thrill of standing at the edge of Africa. If you are interested, there is an ostrich farm across the road that amuses the young and old alike, so if you’re feeling thirsty, pop in for a coffee and learn about the world’s largest flightless bird.

Jumping back in your touring vehicle, you’ll continue along the coast with the ocean on your right-hand side until you reach Boulders Beach, home to the adorable colony of African penguins waddling along the sand and swimming in the crystal-clear water. You can even take a refreshing dip in the calm, sheltered cove, and if you’re lucky, you might find yourself swimming near the penguins—just remember to give them their space. It’s an unforgettable experience! 🐧🌊

Onwards and upwards! Next you’re off to Simon’s Town, a charming coastal town steeped in maritime history. Here, you’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch at one of the harborside restaurants, with fresh seafood being a must-try. Take some time to wander the quaint streets, browse the unique shops, or learn about the town’s naval heritage.

Back on the road, your journey continues northbound with a stop at Kalk Bay, a vibrant, bohemian fishing village. Snap some photos at the working harbor and the ever-present seals, watch the fishermen bring in their daily catch, or simply soak in the lively atmosphere of this artistic coastal gem.

Your final stop is at Muizenberg Beach, famous for its iconic row of colorful beach huts. It’s the perfect photo op to capture the playful spirit of this surf town. Spend a few minutes walking along the sandy shore before continuing your scenic drive back to Cape Town.

If time allows, you can also enjoy the following activities along the way. Jus tnote that these are additional costs and will add extra time to your day. It’s best to advise your booking agent or guide in advance so they can plan for you to enjoy a seamless day of touring:

> Visit the World of Birds in Hout Bay, especially if you are travelling with children
> Take a boat cruise in Hout Bay out to seal island
> Enjoy wine tasting at one of the renowned vineyards in the Constantia Winelands
> Take a walk through the beautiful gardens of Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens

Arrive back at your hotel at approximately 18h00 – you’re going to be tired; it’s a long day but it’s fun and you’ll experience some of the most iconic spots the city has to offer.

You also don’t need to stay in a hotel in the city – his tour can start from anywhere as the Cape Peninsula tour is literally done around the peninsula in a circle.

Overnight in Cape Town.

Day 4: Cape Winelands

Get ready for a day of indulgence and discovery as you embark on a fun-filled tour to the beautiful Cape Winelands! Your adventure begins with a comfortable hotel pick-up in Cape Town, where your luggage is loaded and your private guide will whisk you away to this renowned wine-producing region.

First stop: wine tasting at one of the area’s finest estates, where you’ll sip your way through a selection of world-class wines while soaking in the breathtaking vineyard views. After tasting a few (or more!) local wines, it’s time for a delightful lunch at a charming winery, pairing the best regional flavors with delicious food that perfectly complements the wines.

But you’re not done yet! Get ready for something truly unique—a Cap Classique and artisanal nougat pairing. Delight in the bubbles of this signature South African sparkling wine, paired with the sweet, nutty flavors of hand-crafted nougat—an unexpected and delicious combination that will have you rethinking dessert!

At the end of the day, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel in the Winelands, where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy the serene beauty of your surroundings. It’s a day of good food, great wine, and unforgettable fun, with a peaceful overnight stay to cap it all off. Cheers to a perfect day in the Winelands! 🍷🍨

Accommodation options: Le Quartier Francais, Babylonstornen, Majeka House

Day 5: Relax

Take the day to relax. As much fun as this all is, you’re on the go all the time and the winelands is the perfect place to catch your breath. Relax in your hotel, or enjoy a stroll through the streets of Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, or book a bicycle tour to explore.

Overnight in the Winelands.

Day 6: Cape Town – Kruger

Head to the airport for your direct flight to Kruger Mpumalanga Airport (MQP) in Mpumalanga province.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted and transferred by road to your chosen safari lodge in the renowned Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve, where you’ll have plenty of incredible properties to choose from for your stay.

Enjoy a delightful lunch or high tea, depending on your arrival time. Then, it’s time to leave the lodge behind and embark on your afternoon game drive, where you’ll set off in search of the Big 5.

Accommodation options: Londolozi, Lion Sands, Dulini Lodge or Kirkman’s Camp

Day 7 – 8: Relax at Your Lodge

Enjoy the game activities available at your choice of lodge. You will have a morning and afternoon game drive available to go exploring, and some lodges offer night drives too (if this is what you want, please check this before you confirm your booking to avoid being disappointed).

Some lodges offer bush walks with experienced guides which is also included in your rates.

Pretty much all of the activities are included in your rates and the choice is yours if you want to do everything, or skip a game drive, lie in and then relax with a luxurious massage in the bush. The choice is yours!

Day 9: Sabi Sands – Victoria Falls

After breakfast you’ll be transferred back to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport for your direct flight to the beautiful Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.

Airlink and FastJet fly direct between Nelspruit (MQP) and Victoria Falls, but only on certain days of the week so your itinerary needs to be planned accordingly.

When you are flying into Victoria Falls, keep your eyes open as you get closer and if the falls are in full flow, you might be lucky enough to spot the spray from the air!

On arrival you’ll need to clear immigration and passport control, collect your luggage and then proceed through customs. When you enter the arrivals hall, look for your driver who will be holding a signboard with your name on it. Say hello (these are probably some of the friendliest people you’ll meet in Africa!) and jump in the car for your transfer to your hotel.

There are SO many options to choose from in Vic Falls. My personal favourites are the Victoria Falls River Lodge and the Stanley & Livingstone Boutique Hotel, but these are just out of town.

If you want to stay closer to the Falls and the hustle and bustle of the town, you can look at places like the Palm River Hotel, Batonka Guest Lodge, or the Victoria Falls Hotel.

After checking in, it’s time for your stunning sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. Once you’ve boarded and navigated past the hustle of others boarding their boats (there are quite a few, each with its own unique style!), you’ll glide into peaceful serenity, surrounded by the beauty of the river at dusk. It is truly amazing! There are drinks and snacks on board so don’t worry about going hungry.

Don’t forget your camera and binoculars for sightseeing from the boat and take a light jacket as the temperatures might dip as the sun sets.

And no dangling hands in the water – crocs also enjoy a sunset snack!

Overnight in Victoria Falls.

Day 10: Victoria Falls

And it’s time to go exploring again!

Since you are in Victoria Falls, you now need to go and see Victoria Falls. Just note that the water level changes according to the water in the river and at certain times of the year the Falls are in full flood, but during other times there isn’t much water on the Zambian side.

You can read more about the water levels here. That article will also explain to you that you can book either a private tour, scheduled tour or you can just walk around the Falls on your own.

From here, there is so much you can do – Victoria Falls is known as the Adventure Capital of the World, so if you’re looking for an adrenalin fix, you’re in the perfect place!

But it’s not all about bunjee jumping and bashing through the rapids in a river raft! There are plenty of calmer activities that you can so that can keep you busy for days.

While you’re out having fun, don’t forget to stop and refuel. Lunch usually isn’t included in your hotel stay, so grab a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants in town and try something different.

At the end of your head, head back to your hotel for your final night before saying farewell to Africa!

Day 11: Home time!

Phew, you’re going to need a holiday after this holiday!

After breakfast you’ll head off to Victoria Falls Airport to check in for your flight back to Johannesburg, and then it’s time to board your international flight home.

Your South Africa and Victoria Falls itinerary have taken you through four of the best areas (Cape Town, Winelands, Sabi Sands and Victoria Falls) in two countries, ticked all of the major highlights off your bucket list and let’s not kid around, you might have put on a few extra pounds!

But the memories that you have created will last you a lifetime!
